Today, I am taking you on a unique experience in the heart of Paris, between heritage, craftsmanship, and unforgettable culinary delights. A day punctuated by food & wine pairings, cultural discoveries, and moments of pure indulgence. Follow me!
I start my day in a magical place: the Caves du Louvre, a former royal cellar nestled under the cobbled streets of Paris.
Here, I am taking part in a tasting: 10 carefully selected wines, accompanied by 10 exceptional cheeses. Each agreement takes me to a region, a history, a land.
Under the stone vaults, guided by a sommelier, I discover combinations that are daring, sometimes surprising, always exquisite.
After this immersion, there is nothing like a visit to the Fromagerie du Louvre, just next door. I love stopping there to enjoy one of their delicious cured cheese sandwiches. Simple, generous and incredibly tasty, the selection is not the same every day but I am never disappointed! All the cheeses tasted in the morning at the Caves du Louvre come directly from this cheese factory or I can therefore bring back a piece of blue that I fell in love with during the 10 wines 10 cheeses tasting.
Then head to an unusual and captivating place: the brand new Cheese Museum. I wander through interactive installations, sensory maps, producer videos, and even scents to guess. Every corner reveals a secret to me: where does brie come from? How do you make Comté cheese that has been matured for 24 months? Why do some cheeses smell so strong? (And why is it a delight...) The highlight of this visit? A participatory workshop where I become... a cheesemaker for an hour. I put my hands in the dough, I learn the gestures, the dosages, the curdling, the draining... and I leave with three small homemade cheeses to mature at home. A sensory and educational experience that I loved.
After so many flavors, let's make way for the emotion of heritage. I take advantage of being on Île de la Cité to (re) discover the emblematic Notre-Dame de Paris. The cathedral reopened at the end of 2024 and the atmosphere is full of particular emotion.
I continued my afternoon by walking to the 1st arrondissement where I was this morning. Go to the Distillerie de l'Arbre Sec, I discover a new alliance: gins, whiskeys & cheeses. Guided by a master distiller, I taste several French whiskeys and gins, each accompanied by a cheese selected for its aromatic complementarity. A chic and quirky experience, perfect for curious palates.
At the beginning of the evening, I settled at Monbleu, an essential address for cheese lovers... like me. In an urban, warm and stylish setting, I enjoy cuisine that is inventive, generous, and always focused on the product. On the menu: revisited fondue or raclette, homemade croquettes, mac & cheese with truffles, cured cheeses by the cup... all accompanied by a good glass of natural wine or a craft beer.
To end this busy day, I go to 1905, a cocktail bar hidden in a beautiful old building. The atmosphere is intimate, friendly, almost like a lounge with friends. We sit in an armchair, we take the time to discuss, laugh, and enjoy. I order my favorite cocktail: a twisted Negroni, a bit rounder and herbaceous than the classic version. I love this subtle blend of bitterness and freshness, which reminds me why I love to finish my evenings with a good, well-made cocktail.
